Day 25 & 26 | Upper Mid-West Tour

Image
Day 25, Thursday 6/29 Another great day on the bike. I rode with the guy I had met on Wednesday, and we climbed all of the way up White Mountain, and then did a loop on top of White Mountain back to the Events Center.  It was an awesome dirt road, and hardly anything or anyone up there. We did a 36 mile ride and I was back around 11 am, and in plenty of time to cool down, and shower and get dressed for our Region 6 lunch, and more specifically sit at the table designated for our local group, Music City.  Too bad I thought the lunch was at noon. 😝 When I got back and was Lolly gagging around, I saw a note from Lynn about letting out Sydney and see you at the lunch at 11:30, oops 😅.  I was only a few minutes late, and still sweating, probably from the hot shower and then hopping back on the bike to get to the lunch. Last night, Wednesday, there was the Airstreams aglow night and here are a couple more pictures. Day 26, Friday 6/30 I didn’t ride today as there was a Flea M...

Day 24 | Upper Mid-West Tour

Wednesday, 6/28 Today was another great day, I started off with a 7am bike ride and I found another guy on a MTB and we added some MTB miles to the loop. We are planning on doing a longer ride together tomorrow.  Once I returned and showered, we headed out for a long day of driving and checking out the Flaming Gorge in Utah, our 9th state on this tour. It starts just south of where we are currently in Wyoming and then into Utah. We drove all the way around it, approximately 150 miles,  it gets its name from the red color of the rock walls in the gorge.  Here are some pictures from today.  Tomorrow we have a couple of classes and lunch with our region. We are also planning on going into town for dinner tomorrow night. There is a bonfire and Airstreams a glow in the other campground tomorrow night. We had one last night, and I spoke with the President of Airstream for awhile. he is a nice guy and we have a lot in common. Here are a couple of pictures from last night. ...

Day 21, 22, & 23 | Upper Mid-West Tour

This labeling of the days is helpful, especially since we are in the same place for a week. Day 21-23, Sunday, 6/25- Tuesday 6/27 We are settled in and have gone to many classes during the day and have learned a lot of different things.  But the best part to me is that a lot of the technical stuff that they were teaching, I knew a lot of it, not all, but a much better understanding of some of the topics than some of the people.  😝 I have done the daily bike ride at 7am, and that has been a nice addition, as I love to ride my bike.  Here are some pictures of a ride that I did today by myself.  The trails were just off the road that we had been riding along the last few days, and I decided to go on the trails.  The land is BLM (Bureau of Land Management Land), so I think it’s available for anyone to do practically anything on.  I know that people camp on BLM land, especially out West, and ATV riding, and mountain biking. Some of the classes that I have atten...

Day 18, 19, & 20 | Upper Mid-West Tour

Ok, I have to admit, this number of the days and doing the blog when I have time/ cell coverage/ things that I think you might be interested in is getting hard.  😂. When you are retired everyday is Saturday, so for me as a newly retired guy, it’s tough remembering what day it is!!!! 😝. Sorry to my working friends, and apologies to my friends that have been retired for a while and if I made a comment like, “how can you forget what day it is?” I get it now.  So to keep my own sanity, I will label the days with a day and date.  See below. Day 18, Thursday 6/22 We said our goodbyes to Jim and Amy the night before as they weren’t interested in getting up early to see us leave at 7:30 am, and I don’t blame them a bit.  We had a great several days with them, and they had a busy day planned as well.  We hit the road and headed south to a halfway point in Dillon, MT.  Just staying for the night, there wasn’t anything special about Dillon, although we did go for a ...
