Day 21, 22, & 23 | Upper Mid-West Tour

This labeling of the days is helpful, especially since we are in the same place for a week.

Day 21-23, Sunday, 6/25- Tuesday 6/27
We are settled in and have gone to many classes during the day and have learned a lot of different things.  But the best part to me is that a lot of the technical stuff that they were teaching, I knew a lot of it, not all, but a much better understanding of some of the topics than some of the people.  😝

I have done the daily bike ride at 7am, and that has been a nice addition, as I love to ride my bike.  Here are some pictures of a ride that I did today by myself.  The trails were just off the road that we had been riding along the last few days, and I decided to go on the trails.  The land is BLM (Bureau of Land Management Land), so I think it’s available for anyone to do practically anything on.  I know that people camp on BLM land, especially out West, and ATV riding, and mountain biking.












Some of the classes that I have attended are: RV Tips and Tricks, Daily Donuts from the Rock Springs Welcome Committee/Visitor Center 😋, Finding Campsites in a Post Pandemic World, Outdoor Eats, 1st Timers get acquainted, It Just Works - Internet on the Go, RV Electricity ( this was a great class, and he taught 3 different classes all on electricity and I went to all 3), Panel Discussions on WiFi on the Road, Boondocking Panel, Ice Cream Social honoring our Veterans, and many more.

There are also nightly get together around bonfires, and campsites too.  Our region will have a lunch on Thursday that we have paid for and will participate in and meet many more people.




Here are some pictures of the campground at the Sweetwater Event Complex in Rock Springs, WY.  There are over 1200 Airstreams here, and we are all over the grounds, spread out between 4 different campgrounds. Our campground is about 1 mile to the center where all of the main buildings are located, but we also have the most Airstreams in our campground, therefore most of the fun and bonfires are here, including a dog park too.








Tomorrow is a free day, there is a golf tournament in the am, and some people are taking tours of the area.  The idea is to spend some money in the local economy and see the area.  We are planning on doing a couple of nice drives to see The Flaming Gorge, and also do an off-road drive on a scenic loop to see some wildlife, including wild horses.

Yesterday, Day 8, Tuesday, we did a lot of driving into the beautiful state of Montana.  It is amazing how beautiful this state is from just the interstate.  We followed the Yellowstone river for at least 100 miles yesterday.  Also crossing the continental divide, and the truck with the BIG diesel engine handled it like a BOSS.  We were set on cruise control and just went flying up and down the mountains, while the semi-trucks were struggling at altitude. Few pictures were taken yesterday on the drive, we just admired the beauty of the state.  This is a rest stop where we had lunch. Later we stopped at a truck stop that was a “travel center” in a small little town to get some fuel, and they had everything that you would normally expect at a truck stop, basically a convenience store, AND a casino, restaurant, and a bakery.  We bought 2 huge cinnamon rolls, this is just one, and yes it is a large to go styrofoam box. Day 5 | Upper Mid-West Tour

Another fun filled day!  I’m not sure I can make another 25 of these, 😜 and we haven’t even started the physically demanding stuff that starts when Jim and Amy Keffer arrive in about 5 days. (Yes this is real and yes we were close, but behind a fence) Today we woke up at 6:00 and got an early start as we wanted to get to Roosevelt North Unit and have a great day. But when we were packing up, and getting ready to leave, I checked my battery levels and they were surprising low, around 62%.  Which I am guessing you think isn’t very low, but after only 1 night and only having a refrigerator going and no heat or A/C as the weather has been amazing here, it should not have been that low.  (And I spent a bunch of $$ upgrading my batteries and system, so they would last longer). I started emailing “my guy” that put the system in and he actually responded on a Saturday.  We are still working through the possibilities, so we decided to cancel our campground at the Roosevelt N...

Day 11 | Upper Mid-West Tour

We arrived, we are in Glacier National Park.  This is one of our bucket list places.  Neither of us have ever been to Glacier NP, and are both very excited to be here and explore the area.  It is amazing how late the sun stays out here, right now it’s 9:15 Mountain Time and the sun is still out.  I believe the sun will set around 10:00 pm.   Today was mainly a drive and setup day.  We stopped at a local grocery story on the way in and bought some more supplies, and some fuel before getting all of the way up to Glacier as we weren’t sure what the grocery situation would be and thinking that diesel would be more expensive around a national park. This is Flathead Lake that we drove along for 20+ miles.  Once set up, I went for a nice ride into the park and ran into a couple of Backroads tour guides out for a bike ride, so I hopped in with them and did 30 miles.
