Day 18, 19, & 20 | Upper Mid-West Tour
Ok, I have to admit, this number of the days and doing the blog when I have time/ cell coverage/ things that I think you might be interested in is getting hard. 😂. When you are retired everyday is Saturday, so for me as a newly retired guy, it’s tough remembering what day it is!!!! 😝. Sorry to my working friends, and apologies to my friends that have been retired for a while and if I made a comment like, “how can you forget what day it is?” I get it now. So to keep my own sanity, I will label the days with a day and date. See below.
Day 18, Thursday 6/22
We said our goodbyes to Jim and Amy the night before as they weren’t interested in getting up early to see us leave at 7:30 am, and I don’t blame them a bit. We had a great several days with them, and they had a busy day planned as well. We hit the road and headed south to a halfway point in Dillon, MT. Just staying for the night, there wasn’t anything special about Dillon, although we did go for a quick bike ride and saw some interesting sights. Did you know that The University of MOntana Western is in Dillon?? Who knew? Anyway here are some of the pictures.
We left out early from Dillon, MT because we had a travel day and wanted to get to Jackson WY as early as possible. The Teton Pass was a lot of fun at a 10% grade in fog. 😜 Lynn wasn’t excited about it!
The campground in the Tetons NP, Colter Bay is a great one, and very hard to get a reservation in, just like all of the other NP’s, but Lynn was able to get it booked, so we jumped at the chance to take it. Colter Bay is a little northeast of Jackson Hole, so we had to go through Jackson to get to the campground, but we were able to drive the scenic drive along the Tetons to get there, and once there we also did a nice hike along the colter Bay. Here are some of those pictures. Although it was over cast that day, we could still see the beauty. And and Do Not Pass sign new side of bear activity.
Day 20, Saturday, 6/24
Happy Birthday Grant!! On the way out the next morning we stopped along the way to take some more pictures. Although we weren’t fast enough with our cameras, we saw 2 moose just walking on the edge of the woods, as we got closer they disappeared into the woods. Here are some of the pictures on the way out.
And our destination for Saturday is the Airstream Rally in Rock Springs, WY. Although I haven’t taken any pictures since our arrival, it is truly amazing to see so many airstreams, approximately 1200. They did a great job getting everyone parked, and extremely well organized, although I think they had 800 of them parked by Friday night. Some people were coming early for many reasons like, to meet up with friends, band practice, volunteers, board members, meetings, etc. The official start to the Rally was yesterday with the opening ceremonies. I will post more pictures in a few days.
