Day 12 & 13 | Upper Mid-West Tour

Happy Father’s Day to all!!
Yesterday, Saturday we went to Whitefish a town close to Glacier to check out the town and have lunch with Jim and Amy.  They had arrived the night before late and we were going into town because of the weather was rainy here in Glacier, and nice over there, so the decision was easy.  And we wanted to make a day of Whitefish anyway.  We had a nice lunch and checked out the lake and the beautiful homes.  It was recommended that we have bear spray for Glacier and we picked some up at a great store, Murdoch’s, that I had never heard of or been in before.

The RV Resort and B&B that we are staying at is very close to the West entrance to Glacier, and has a nice community fire pit as well that we gathered around last night.  Here are a couple of pictures of the resort.

Today was a very long and busy day, 10+ hours,  as we drove into Glacier National Park and visited a large amount of it.  The Going To The Sun Road just opened on Tuesday, the earliest that it has opened since 2005.  We drove it today and about 10 miles of it is under construction, and is very bumpy.

We stopped at several of the resorts on our drive, here is the Lake McDonald Resort.

And the Many Glacier Resort.

The scenes were absolutely amazing today, and the pictures just don’t do it justice, but here are some anyway.

We stopped and had lunch along St. Mary Lake, and it was very windy but beautiful.

And last but not least we saw a grizzly, just waiting to say hello.

And after a long day we stopped at the East Glacier Lodge and had fresh trout for dinner followed by an hour drive back.

Tomorrow if weather permits we are going to ride Going To The Sun Road.
